Driveshaft Repair Bearing

Fits All Viper & Sidewinder Models

3/2/23 Product Update. I have sold right around 500 of these bearings now and have seen 3 cases in which set screws backed out and the collar actually worked its way out of the bearing. I did not think it would be needed, but now suggest applying blue loctite to the set screws. Please just double check your set screws and consider adding loctite for extra measure.

New for the 22-23 season we have a newly designed bearing assembly for the caliper housing. This bearing is custom made with a larger inside diameter. The larger ID allows for a press fit collar containing locking set screws to be pressed into the bearing. The collar has a slip fit tolerance onto the shaft to maintain easy caliper removal, but the set screws ensure the inner bearing race is spinning with the shaft.  Installation of this bearing requires just removal of the inner clip on the shaft and removal of the debris seal inside the tunnel.

The biggest highlight of this new product is that it works on a worn driveshaft. The collar extends well beyond the typical wear area on the shaft as shown in the second photo and therefore allows it to serve as a "repair" over the worn area of the shaft. The ability to work on a worn shaft will save customers the time and expense associated with replacing the driveshaft. The bearings being used are from the quality German bearing company FAG.

For those that have new shafts or unworn shafts this new bearing is another option over the driveshaft saver. The savers have been proven to work well, but only on a non worn shaft. I will continue to offer them as they are less work to install. In my experiences, it is quite rare for one to remove the caliper and not find wear on the shaft. If you have not pulled your sled apart to inspect prior to ordering, I would suggest ordering the bearing over the expander to ensure you can fix your issue.

Bearings ship with the collar installed. Replacement bearings will be available for purchase as well. Retail for the assembly is $160.
