Chain Tensioner Lock Tool

Fits 08-25 1049cc Triple & 17-25 998 Turbo Triple

Until now adjusting valves was a labor intensive project beings the timing chain tensioner was not easily accessible unless the motor was unbolted and rolled forward. Valve adjustments are going to become more prevalent as miles keep going up and no new machines to replace them after 2025. With a tech tip from Casey Hauk we now have a slick tool that eliminates the need to remove the timing chain tensioner from the engine. Many are reluctant to tackle this project, but with this tool and my videos as a guide the process of adjusting valves will likely be taken on by more. The tool compresses the tensioner and locks it in so the cams can be removed. Be sure to watch the videos below for clarification on how it all works. The tool will retail for $30.

Remove factory bolt next to the triangle mark and insert the silver bolt with washers until it bottoms out. Once done with valve work remove the silver bolt and install the factory bolt.

Slip the tool down from the top until fork reaches the silver bolt. Use a mallet and gently drive the tool down until the fork bottoms on the bolt. Chain will now have slack and cam can be removed. Once the work is done just give the puller a quick tug to remove it.
