I'm Travis Hibshman ,owner of Barn of Parts Sled Salvage. Motorsports have been a vital part of my life since buying my first mini bike at the age of 10. I continued to ride, repair, buy and sell bikes, ATV's and snowmobiles all through school. While attending Penn State for Mechanical Engineering I ran the service department at a local used ATV shop. After graduating college I became employed in the engineering field and grew a side business of buying, selling and repairing wrecked sportbikes. Snowmobiles were by far my favorite, so in fall of
2010 I began to transition my business from sportbikes to snowmobiles. Selling whole snowmobiles can be a rather a tough business given the nature of PA winters, so my solution to this was selling used parts. Barn of Parts was officially registered as a business in Summer of 2012 with the intent to sell quality used snowmobile parts at an affordable price. In January 2014 Barn of Parts became set up as a Kimpex dealer in order to expand our scope of supply to customers. Kimpex offers many items for Yamaha 4 stroke sleds and I've combed through the books and compiled many of these items in the online store. One stop shopping is attractive to buyers, and Kimpex brings Barn of Parts closer to being the one stop shop for Yamaha 4 stroke parts.
My vast experience of selling parts, and riding Yamaha snowmobiles has brought to my attention the problematic areas of Yamaha 4 stroke snowmobiles and prompted me to venture into the aftermarket world. The first product released was the bulkhead saver and repair kits. This product was released in 2013 and was a joint effort with my father, who owns and runs a welding and fabrication shop. Just recently Barn of Parts released the oil tank saver kits. There are several more products in the making so be sure to check back for updates!
In March of 2014 I quit my job as project manager in the mechanical engineering field to focus on Barn of Parts. This career move has allowed me to dedicate more time to developing new products and growing the business.
I strongly believe good customer service will grow any business. I strive to offer that in all the products and parts we sell. I take no pride in selling parts just to make the sale. Often times requests come in and after talking to customers I determine that the parts they requested are not going to fit their machine or deliver the results they are hoping to obtain. When an order ships out from Barn of Parts I am confident my customer is getting what he or she truly needs.
